Wildlanterns

Looking to experience a holiday lights display like no other? Gather up your family and friends and head to Woodland Park Zoo for this year’s Wildlanterns festival!

This immersive experience includes giant lanterns in the shapes of animals and the habitats they live in. These life-size exhibits are truly something to behold, and we can’t recommend them enough! You’ll also get to take in the zoo’s regular animal attractions, so take advantage of this in-person Christmas event in 2020.

Winterfest

This event is a staple of the holidays here in Seattle. While the in-person festivities will be limited this year, Winterfest is still bringing the Christmas cheer to you and your family.

For 2020, Winterfest offers a virtual Christmas experience like never before. You can safely enjoy holiday performances, videos on holiday traditions, as well as kid’s activities from the comfort of your home.

Feel like getting out and seeing some Christmas lights? The Seattle Center campus will be open and decorated for the season as well, giving you the best of both worlds for 2020. Don’t miss out!

Snowflake Lane

Though this event is in Bellevue, just outside Seattle proper, it’s more than worth the drive. All throughout December, the streets of The Bellevue Collection mall and entertainment complex feature beautiful Christmas lights and holiday music to enjoy.

This year’s event is different from years past due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nightly parades and performances will not be taking place, but you can still come out and bask in the holiday spirit of glowing lights and holiday carols.

#1 – Winterfest

For five weeks the grounds of the Seattle Center will be taken over with holiday activities that are free or low cost for all to enjoy. Highlights include an indoor ice rink, model train winter village and weekend ice sculpting and student performances. The celebration concludes with the annual fireworks celebration and live band at the Space Needle on New Years Eve.

#2 – Enchant Christmas: Mischievous

If you’re looking for large-scale Seattle Christmas events for a complete night of entertainment, Enchant is the answer. Vancouver-based Christmas light company Shine operates the production, with lights highlighting the evening. Try to find Eddie the Elf in the Mischievous Light Maze with a 100-ft tall Christmas tree. Glide through the ice-skating trail aglow with even more light displays and meet Santa near the kid zone. Kids can relax with crafts and holiday movie showings while parents can shop the holiday market with a cocktail from the Ice Bar in hand.

#3 – A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage

The Moore Theatre’s live stage production of the beloved holiday TV show A Charlie Brown Christmas is back once again. This can be one of those Christmas activities in Seattle for the young and old with the Peanuts characters and timeless storyline that are familiar to us all. This live production brings them all to life along with the unforgettable soundtrack played by a live orchestra.

#4 – Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival

Our unique Bavarian-style village takes on even more charm when it transforms into one of the Christmas activities in Seattle that is not to be missed. Daytime activities include horse and carriage rides through the village, sledding, and samples of delicious German delicacies outside the unique shops and cafes. As night falls, a lighting ceremony culminates with the town being set ablaze with Christmas lights.

#5 – Snowflake Lane

Though this event is in Bellevue, just outside Seattle proper, it’s more than worth the drive. Every night the streets of The Bellevue Collection mall and entertainment complex feature a nightly holiday parade with over 300 performers. As snow machines generate snowflakes, watch stilt walkers, dancers and lighted holiday floats pass by to the soundtrack of your favorite Christmas carols. Best of all, this event is free to the public each and every night.
